- Blackwell to sell Greenwood Publishing Group's online databases. Publisher Greenwood Publishing Group recently announced that it has entered into an agreement with Blackwell (Library Services Division). Under the deal, Blackwell will act as its non-exclusive agent for the sale of Greenwood's online databases in the US.
- ebrary designated KnowledgeWorks certified by Serials Solutions. E-book technology firm ebrary, US, has announced that it has become the first e-book provider to become Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks Certified. KnowledgeWorks Certified is a new publisher certification programme that helps Serials Solutions to maintain the highest quality bibliographic metadata for e-resources.
- Wiley Organic Essentials now available via CambridgeSoft . Wiley-Blackwell, the STM and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, has announced a new agreement with enterprise solutions provider CambridgeSoft Corporation, US. Under the deal, CambridgeSoft will offer structure- and substructure-searchable versions of Wiley's organic chemistry content to their customers under the title of Wiley Organic Essentials.
- ProSPER.Net, Scopus announce new award for young scientists in Asia/Pacific region . Abstracting and indexing database Scopus, part of STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has launched an award with the Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network (ProSPER.Net), Japan, to encourage young researchers and academics in the Asia/Pacific region. The ProSPER.Net/Scopus Young Scientist Award will be given annually to recognise an outstanding young scientist who has made significant contribution to the area of Sustainable Development.

- Scopus adds pre-print research abstracts from publishers. Abstracting and indexing database Scopus, part of STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced that it has added 'Articles-in-Press' (AiP), abstracts of accepted research papers published prior to being printed, from journals produced by Karger Medical and Scientific Publishers, and Nature Publishing Group (NPG). Later this year, AiPs from BioMed Central and IEEE will also be available. Scopus previously offered access to AiPs from Elsevier and Springer that included 2500 titles. This number will now rise to about 3000.

- ACS launches social networking site for chemical professionals . The American Chemical Society (ACS) has launched a free social networking site for ACS members and student affiliates at www.acs.org/membernetwork. The ACS Member Network seeks to facilitate scientific collaboration among chemical science professionals around the world.

- 'Journal of Immunological Methods' named official journal of AMLI . STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced that the Journal of Immunological Methods has become the official journal of the Association of Medical Laboratory Immunologists (AMLI). All the members of the Association will have full text online access to the journal including its 38-year archive.
- The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology brings out special issue on AIDS . The editors of The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology have announced the July issue, highlighting AIDS and AIDS research. Published by Elsevier, the journal is the official publication of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.

- Wiley-Blackwell and International Communication Association launch 12-volume encyclopaedia . Wiley-Blackwell, the STM and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, and the International Communication Association have announced the launch of a new International Encyclopedia of Communication. - Springer to publish book series for International Year of Planet Earth. STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media, Germany, has announced that as a key partner of the International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) it will publish the official book series as a legacy to the Year. The new book series is projected to enhance Springer's growing geosciences publishing programme, which consists of journals, textbooks, monographs, reference works, handbooks and encyclopaedias. - Springer, OCUL agreement to provide member libraries with access to Springer eBook Collection. STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media, Germany, has signed an agreement with the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). Under the deal, Springer will provide OCUL member libraries with the complete Springer eBook Collection, 2005 – 2008.
